The Viewers Guide for SAVING FACE is one of many tools available to inform ourselves, our communities and our nations’ leaders on the devastating impact of one acid attack. Used together, these resources can assist us as we expand our understanding of acid violence as a global human rights violation.
The guide is not intended to be comprehensive resource on acid violence, but rather to introduce audiences to the many critical issues surrounding this most devastating crime. As Co-Director Daniel Junge expressed, “the film must be more than an expose of horrendous crimes — it must be a recipe for addressing the problem and a hope for the future.” Co-director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy stated “This is more than an expose. This is a film demonstrating the bravery of Pakistanis confronting this problem, including the survivors themselves, with surprisingly hopeful results.”
